A 39-year-old Austin woman was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child in her vehicle following a Friday afternoon crash in West Austin, according to an arrest affidavit.
Roxanne Rivera faces the state jail felony after her 2006 Kia struck another vehicle on westbound Lake Austin Boulevard near Exposition Boulevard shortly before 2 p.m., the affidavit said. A witness had called police to report the Kia was driving erratically through downtown and later saw the crash, the affidavit said.
A 14-month-old child in Rivera’s backseat was secured in a child seat and uninjured following the crash, the affidavit said.
Rivera told police she had taken three prescription medications, including a muscle relaxer and Vicodin, before the crash and thought she was driving in East Austin, the affidavit said.
She remained jailed on Monday on a $5,000 bail, Travis County jail records show.
