Just more than a week ago the University Interscholastic League postponed all baseball and softball games until May 11, but with experts saying the swine flu virus may not be any worse than the regular flu, the state group has moved up its timetable.

On Wednesday the UIL contacted athletic directors around the state, telling them that their seasons could resume immediately.

The track and field season which was turned upside down before the UIL righted it, will not be affected by the new ruling.

The Marble Falls softball team will not be affected either. Their rescheduled game against Eastside Memorial, set for May 12, will remain as scheduled.

The baseball team, on the other hand, will get a shock to their collective system. After a long break, two weeks to date, and no competitive play outside of inner-squad scrimmages, they will pick up play tonight in a playoff game against Hutto, set to begin at 7 p.m. at Lake Travis High School.
