Kerrville Tivy quarterback Johnny Manziel added another national award to his haul for the season on Wednesday.

But there's a chance he'll never see what he gets for being the 2010 National High School Coaches Association Football Player of the Year.

"My dad (Paul Manziel) takes all of the awards and puts them in his office," he said. "I don't even know some of the stuff I've gotten, because he grabs all of it."

Paul will have to clear some more office space after Manziel was awarded the NHSCA's honor.

The NHSCA gives a national player of the year in 20 boys and girls sports. Recent winners of the football award include Florida QB John Brantley and Texas QB Garrett Gilbert.

Among Manziel's other honors this season, he was named to the Parade All-America team and was the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Player of the Year.

"All the stuff that came in exceeded expectations," said Manziel, who was the Express-News Area's Offensive Player of the Year twice. "I never thought a kid from a Hill Country town could get this recognition. It means a lot to me to represent San Antonio and especially Kerrville like this. I'm truly blessed."

Manziel, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound quarterback, broke area single-season records for total offense (5,283 yards) and passing yards (3,609) in 12 games, only four of which he played the full game. He threw for 45 touchdowns, rushed for 1,674 yards and 30 TDs and had a TD reception and kickoff return for a TD.

He also set a state record with 75 pass attempts in a game, completing 41 of them, for 503 yards and four TDs in a 39-34 victory against Madison on Sept.3.

Manziel graduated from Tivy in December and enrolled at Texas A&M for the spring semester.

In April's Maroon & White game, he completed 8 of 9 passes for 115 yards and two TDs.

"I've been so busy with college that the high school season feels like so long ago," said Manziel, who is currently in College Station taking summer classes. "The experience here (at A&M) has been great so far, and I couldn't have asked for anything better."
