Benefit concert raises funds for Lakeway nonprofit

In honor of Trevor Searle, a Lake Travis High School senior who died earlier this year in a skateboarding accident, friends and family are holding a Families for Families benefit show on June 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Searle was a founder of FFF, a Lakeway-based nonprofit organization that assists families in need with purchasing Christmas presents and raising money for heal

th care costs. Families can fill out a form to become an “adopted” family on the nonprofit’s website.

Searle’s friend Scott Osment came up with idea for the benefit concert when he was unable to attend the funeral, but still wanted to do something in his honor.

Almost 400 people have RSVP’ed for the event on the Facebook site and the organizers said they expect even more, since there will be many students from Lake Travis High School who will want to support the cause.

Three bands—Orange Peel, Dead Swagger and Marshall and the Moondance—will perform at the show, being held at the Hill Country Galleria amphitheater in Bee Cave, 12700 Hill Country Blvd. A Trevor Tribute Band will also play Searle's favorite songs and some originals.

Austin Williams will also present a reading in tribute to Searles at the Lake Travis High School Baccalaureate Service on Sunday, May 29 at the Emmaus Catholic Church, 1718 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway, at 2:30 p.m.

At the event, there will be an opportunity to make donations and to purchase "Live Like Trevor" wristbands.
