Developer donates $1 million in land, improvements for Lake Travis library

Real estate developer Haythem Dawlett donated more than $1 million in land and improvements to create a permanent home for the Lake Travis Community Library.

The 10,862-square-foot library will be at Tuscan Village, a 42-acre, age-restricted, resort-style community at 1930 Lohmans Crossing Road in Lakeway.

Tuscan Village is being developed by Legend Communities, where Dawlett is a principal.

Since its founding in 1985, the library has shared space with Lake Travis High School. Since 2006, it has leased space in the Lohmans Crossing shopping center. It serves residents of Briarcliff, Hudson Bend, Lakeway, Spicewood and The Hills.

"It is a privilege to assist the Lake Travis Community Library District with this contribution of land for our newest community library," Dawlett said in a news release. "This organization and its volunteers have done so much for the residents of Lakeway over the years, and we are glad to offer them a site that will also be home to the community's first and only age-qualified active living development. The new library will provide the perfect venue for family members of all ages throughout Lake Travis to read, learn and socialize for many years to come."

Weaver charitable foundation gives to Habitat for Humanity in 6 cities

The Weaver Private Foundation, the charitable arm of accounting firm Weaver, donated $42,000 to six local affiliates of Habitat for Humanity, including the one in Austin.

"A goal of the foundation is to promote volunteerism among our employees by providing enriching opportunities to service those in need in our community," said Gary McIntosh, Austin executive partner in Weaver's tax and business services and the Austin location leader for the foundation.
