Two Central Texas teams have been honored as Army Strong Teams of the Week due to their performances last week.

Cedar Park, which pounded Lake Travis 35-21 last week, was named Class 4A’s top team. The Class 3A award went to Rockdale, which upset Caldwell to grab District 23-3A’s final playoff spot.

Cedar Park and Rockdale are the 10th and 11th teams from the Central Texas area to win the Army Strong award this season. Austin High (Class 5A, week 1), Stony Point (Class 5A, week 3), Rogers (Class 5A, week 3), Round Rock (Class 5A, week 4), Regents (private schools, week 4), Caldwell (Class 3A, week 5), Hyde Park (private schools, week 5), Thrall (Class A, week 6) and St. Michael’s (private schools, week 8) have also been honored.

The Timberwolves and Tigers weren’t the only ones from Central Texas to earn a statewide award.

Hyde Park senior Matt Heytens was recently named the Built Ford Tough Player of the Week for the private school classification after leading the Panthers to a 48-14 win over Corpus Christi John Paul II on Oct. 29. Heytens, a linebacker and wide receiver, had 164 receiving yards, three receiving touchdowns and a defensive score against the Centurions.
