Hundreds of volunteers picked up trash in and around Lake Travis the
morning of Sept. 12. Keep Austin Beautiful coordinates the annual Lake
Travis Underwater Cleanup, which includes scuba divers diving for trash
along the bottom of the lake along with volunteers scouring the shores
for discarded cigarettes, candy wrappers and other unnatural items
leftover from campers.
Afterward, volunteers celebrated their efforts at Carlos’n Charlie's
with burgers, chips and drinks as well as a raffle, sponsor tents and
music.
Each year prizes are given for the most unique items found.
Travis County Precinct 3 Commissioner Karen Huber thanked
volunteers—especially scuba divers—for their hard work in keeping the
lake pristine.
