As Tropical Storm Hermine moves toward Central Texas, the National
Weather Service said tonight the heaviest rain, up to 12 inches, will
likely fall south and west of Austin.
Meteorologist Clay Anderson said he expects the storm to produce 2 to
5 inches of rain in the Austin area, but the largest rainfall totals
will stay in the San Antonio and Hill Country areas.
The storm, Anderson said, made landfall about 8:30 p.m. Monday night in Northern Mexico.
He said Austinites will likely start to see rain after in the early hours of Tuesday, with heavier downpours expected Tuesday afternoon and evening.
He said residents should watch out for flash flooding, along with flooded low water crossings and streets.
