Lake Travis quarterback Michael Brewer should be ready to play when the Cavaliers play Aledo in a battle of Class 4A state champions Friday night.
Brewer was taken to the locker room in pain in the final moments of Friday's 34-24 victory over Hendrickson. The Cavalier senior had an apparent shoulder or arm injury, which would be a crippling blow for the team that has won 48 straight games.
Lake Travis head coach Hank Carter said Sunday that Brewer "took a shot" to the shoulder, but was not injured on the play. He should be able to practice this week.
Brewer's presence will be particularly important when the Cavaliers play host to Aledo at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Lake Travis is the defending Class 4A Division I champion and Aledo the defending 4A Division II champ.
Through two games, the Texas Tech pledge has completed 47 of 84 passes for 596 yards and three touchdowns.
Lake Travis (2-0) is ranked No. 1 in the latest Associated Press 4A poll and Aledo (2-0) is No. 2.
The Bearcats are coming off a 48-13 victory over Weatherford.
