The Lake Travis Education Foundation awarded $130,000 worth of grants to teachers for 32 programs for the 2010–11 school year. Grant requests totaled more than $440,000.

“It is a grueling process to determine which grants are ultimately funded,” LTEF Grant Chair Monique Threadgill said. “Obviously, greater income to the foundation would allow for the awarding of more grants. When you witness firsthand the difference these grants make in the lives of our students and teachers, you understand the true value of contributions to LTEF.”

LTEF directors encourage all members of the community to make a direct impact on the future of children throughout Lake Travis ISD by partnering with LTEF. Established in 1985, the foundation has supported LTISD schools with more than $2.4 million in grants and scholarships.

“Our schools are only as strong as the support they receive from our community,” LTISD Superintendent Rocky Kirk said. “Each year, the foundation and its membership work hard to supplement various classroom projects and activities in critical areas district-wide, thereby adding value to our overall instructional program. We are ever so thankful for their continued interest and investment in our students, our teachers and, ultimately, the Lake Travis community.”

Contributions to LTEF are not subject to Robin Hood recapture; 100 percent of the funds remain in the school district. Grant proposals are reviewed without knowledge of who submitted each request.
