For the second time in the past two months, Rice has gone through Williamson County in an effort to fill out its football roster.
A season after he helped lead Westwood to its first playoff appearance since 2006, Warrior tight end Grant Peterson has committed to the Owls. At Rice, he will join Cedar Park offensive lineman Matt Wofford, who committed to the Houston-based school in June.
Rivals.com reported that Peterson also had a scholarship offer from North Texas.
Rice has been actively recruiting in the Central Texas area over the past few years. Lake Travis’ Andy Erickson and Trevor Gillette signed with the Owls in February and Pflugerville graduate Drew Travis will join the team as a walk-on wide receiver.
Junior linebacker Justin Allen (Cedar Park), junior offensive lineman Kody Emmert (Liberty Hill), junior tight end Brent Hotard (Round Rock), junior running back Tyler Smith (Cedar Park), redshirt freshman quarterback Taylor McHarque (Vista Ridge) and redshirt freshman wide receiver Donte Moore (Manor) are also on the Rice roster.
