UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SYSTEM

Plans to be unveiled for Brackenridge tract

Two plans for redeveloping the Brackenridge tract in West Austin will be presented June 18 at a public meeting of the UT System Board of Regents.

"The board will not be taking action on the plans that day," said Anthony de Bruyn, a spokesman for the system. Officials will study the plans and hold a public comment session in the fall, he said.

Cooper, Robertson & Partners LLP, a New York City-based planning firm, is under contract with the regents to produce at least two conceptual master plans for the 345-acre tract along Lake Austin Boulevard in West Austin.

The June meeting, the time of which has not been set, will be in the board room of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. Seventh St. It will be Webcast live at www.utsystem.edu/bor/meetings.htm.

AUSTIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

New students to register

Registration will begin June 15 for new students planning to attend ACC in the fall. Registration for current and former students is under way.

Fall classes begin Aug. 24. Tuition for a three-credit course is $162, including fees, for students living in the ACC district. The out-of-district charge is $456.

For more information, call 223-7701 or visit www.austincc.edu.

2 new programs in the works

Responding to industry and market demand, ACC plans to add associate degree programs in geographic information systems and health information technology. Until it obtains approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the community college will offer shorter certificate programs in those fields.

HUSTON-TILLOTSON UNIVERSITY

Registration, testing in July

Huston-Tillotson will conduct new student registration and placement testing in math, reading and writing July 6 to 11.

Prospective students should report to Enrollment Management in the Agard-Lovinggood building, Room 205, for testing assignments. New students must attend orientation sessions concerning money management, financial aid, academics and campus life.

Admission recruiters are available to advise prospective students. Classes begin Sept. 8. For more information, call 505-3028 or visit www.htu.edu.
