Lady Bird Lake is the place to see rowers at all hours of the day.
This Saturday anyone over the age of 12 can learn how to row for free at the Austin Rowing Club . It's all part National Learn to Row Day.
But the thing about rowing is it's a skill you have to learn, from getting into the boat without tipping it, to learning how to position the oars. Once you're in, it's quite a workout.
"Most people think that it's just the arms but it's a total body workout," said Sara-Mai Conway, the Director of the Austin Rowing Club.
The free rowing classes will be held from 10 to 4 on Saturday.
"It's all across the country, rowing clubs get people out for free to learn how to row," said Travis Greig, Director of Development for the Austin Rowing Club.
Participants will start on the rowing machines first to get the feel for it and then it's in the water.
"We'll have them in an eight person boat so every person gets one oar. So we'll have half experienced rowers from the club and the other half will be students for the day," said Greig.
And maybe the experience will led to a new sport on the water.
"It's always great to be out on the water," said Conway.
