Lake Travis police said today that a lightning strike from a thunderstorm about 2 a.m. caused a fire in the attic of a home in the 1700 block of Trail of the Woods. Four people were able to escape before fire crews arrived, and no one was injured, officials said.

Firefighters arrived to find the two-story home with visible smoke and flames coming from the attic, officials said.

The fire was extinguished quickly, according to the Lake Travis fire department, and they believe it was contained to the attic.

Damage estimates are not yet available.
