LCRA opens floodgates after heavy rains fall

For the first time in nine years the floodgates at Mansfield dam could be forced to reopen.

Lake Travis is 100% full, and the ground is already saturated from recent rains. The summer of 2007 was the last time the floodgates at the dam were used to control water flow from Lake Travis to Lake Austin.

The LCRA says with current conditions we'd have to have a fairly significant and sustained weather event to see a major floodgate operation at Mansfield dam.
