PALs recognized as Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce ‘Rising Star’

The Lake Travis High School Peer Assistance and Leadership program—better known as PALs—recently earned the 2015 Rising Star award from the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce.

The Lake Travis High School Peer Assistance and Leadership program recently earned the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce s 2015 Rising Star award.

The Rising Star Award is presented to a youth or youth organization who devoted time and energy to the betterment of others and the community.

PALs is committed to providing students with trained peer helpers who promote a positive, supportive and productive school experience for students throughout Lake Travis school district. This is a junior/senior class that students must be nominated, interviewed and invited to join. PALs visits elementary and middle schools as well as assisted living homes throughout the district. The program is sponsored by Lake Travis High School teacher Travis Rendon.

Other Lake Travis school district employees, students and programs nominated for chamber awards include Suzanne Stone (Unsung Hero); Hudson Bend Middle School, Lake Travis Junior Chamber of Commerce, Lake Travis High School sophomore Koby Wheeler (Rising Star); and the Lake Travis Education Foundation (Shining Star).
