YESTERDAY: It certainly started gloomy enough here at the Breakfast table — high 30s temperatures and rain can lead to that — but warmed up at work with the arrival of the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Have really been looking forward to Dan Patrick’s Q&A with Lindsey Vonn on Page 38, because, you know, of the Olympics and all.

TODAY: Speaking of the Olympics, it’s here. Tonight is the annual opening ceremony, which has become on of sports’ most impressive spectacles. Today also is the rescheduled season opener for the UT softball team. And it’s the 10-year anniversary of Tom Landry’s passing.

I wore my Stetson fedora to work today. Did you?

TOMORROW: Olympic competition begins in earnest. Danica Patrick races in a Nationwide event. Kevin Durant defends his H-O-R-S-E title at the NBA All-Star weekend in Dallas, which also includes the Slam Dunk Contest. And both Longhorns men’s and women’s basketball teams are in action, the men at home vs. Nebraska, the women on the road at Kansas.
