Chance of rain expected across much of Texas

Highs in the 90s and chances of rain were expected across much of Texas on Tuesday, the National Weather Service says.

Partly sunny skies were expected in the Austin area with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and highs in the lower 90s. By evening, partly cloudy skies were expected with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight and lows in the lower 70s.


In the Amarillo area, partly cloudy skies were expected with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and highs in the lower 90s. Mostly cloudy skies were expected in the evening with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and lows in the lower 60s.


Partly cloudy skies were expected in the Houston area a 40 percent chance of rain and highs in the upper 80s. By evening, partly cloudy skies were expected with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and lows in the mid-70s.


In the Brownsville and Harlingen area, cloudy skies were expected with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and highs in the lower 90s. Partly cloudy skies were expected by evening with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and lows in the upper 70s.
