On the eve of their second football junior day, the Longhorns landed another huge prospect from their first junior day.

Sedrick Flowers, the state's top-ranked offensive lineman by InsideTexas.com, cast his lot with Texas on Thursday. Flowers, an overpowering guard, becomes the Longhorns' 15th commitment for its 2011 class.

"When I went up for Texas' junior day, the atmosphere made me feel like I was at home," said Flowers, a 6-foot, 3-inch, 290-pound product of Galena Park North Shore. "Going there, I felt it wouldn't take me a long time to fit in."

Flowers' commitment came two days after Daingerfield's Steve Edmond — another one of Texas' first junior day recruits — pledged to the Longhorns. Edmond is the state's ninth-rated overall player and its No. 2-rated linebacker.

Flowers, ranked the state's fifth-best overall junior prospect on InsideTexas.com's top 100 list, visited LSU last week. His pledge gives the Longhorns their fourth offensive line commitment for their most pressing need position.

Other offensive linemen who have committed are Lake Travis' Taylor Doyle (ranked 24th in the state), DeSoto's Marcus Hutchins (27th) and Hallsville's Josh Cochran (36th).

Two more offensive line prospects will visit this weekend, and both are projected tackles — Garrett Greenlea of Klein Collins (ranked 16th overall in Texas) and Matt Hegarty of Aztec, N.M.

With Flowers' pledge, the Longhorns now have commitments from the top 2011 players in the state at three positions, according to InsideTexas.com.

Desmond Jackson of Spring Westfield is ranked the top defensive lineman, while cornerback Leroy Scott of South Houston is the top defensive back. Texas also is believed to be one of the frontrunners for the state's top running back, Malcolm Brown of Cibolo Steele, who visited on Feb. 13.
