It has been almost a decade since one Lake Travis community has prepared for flooding with a move to higher ground.

The recent torrential downpours across the Austin-area have pushed the lake levels up two feet overnight. At 689.39 feet, the lake is now only two feet shy of threatening the lowest level mobile homes at Graveyard Point.

The Lower Colorado River Authority spokesperson, Clara Tuma, said they predict even without additional rain Lake Travis will peak between 686 and 688 feet “over the next couple of days.” Graveyard Point mobile homes are located next to the lake starting at 688 feet.

Red Cross is asking for more volunteers to help as severe weather looms in the forecast. There will be training tonight and tomorrow for new volunteers at the American Red Cross office from 6 to 9 p.m.
