Lake Travis senior Andy Erickson has made a verbal commitment to join the Rice football program. Erickson, who lined up as a wide receiver and running back last season, will join the Owls as an athlete.

Last season, Erickson rushed for 549 yards and six touchdowns on 69 carries. He also hauled in 34 passes for 439 yards and three touchdowns.

Erickson helped lead Lake Travis to the Class 4A, Division I championship in December. In the above picture, Erickson scores on 11-yard touchdown run in Lake Travis’ 48-23 win over Longview.

While Erickson will head to Houston next year, another area athlete will be going to college elsewhere. According to variousreports, McNeil linebacker Kurt Killens has decommitted from the University of Houston.
