A swimmer is still missing after he went underwater in Lake Travis six days ago and never resurfaced.

The man has been identified as 53-year-old Manual Salas from Elgin, Texas.

On Saturday, May 5 a boater called 911 to report that a family member went missing in Lake Travis while swimming near their boat.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office has been using various types of sonar and remote operated vehicles daily to find Salas, but so far have been unsuccessful.

Deep diver have been combing through the lake since Monday while helicopters search the area.

The water in the part of the lake where Salas went missing is 130 to 150 feet deep.

Sonar and dive team searches will stop on Friday.

The TCSO said they are “grateful to all the local agencies who assisted in the search and we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Salas as they face this difficult time.”
