Anybody who's lived in Central Texas for any length of time knows that's it's going to be hot every summer.

So what are people doing out here on Lake Travis to try and stay cool?

This is the first official weekend of summer, and sure enough, very hot temperatures are expected all week long.

Some of the day's activities range from jet skiing to boating or another favorite: floating on a tube with a cold drink.

School is out, of course, so there are a lot of children everywhere. But the heat doesn't seem to be keeping people away, it's actually the other way around. And people are looking for ways to cool off.

"Having the kids out on the boat, tubing, knee boarding", said Maria Sweet, of Point Venture. "You know, just staying in the water or even going to the pool this weekend -- but definitely staying close to the lake."

Some other boaters said they've been drinking a lot of water and wearing a lot of sunscreen. They're also keeping their shirts on more while boating.
