Travaasa Destinations is building a 70-room hotel, spa and eatery on 200 acres in western Travis County.

Travaasa Austin will open May 5 on a property overlooking Lake Travis in the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. The project will be the first in a new collection from a subsidiary of national developer Amstar. The new brand emphasizes local and organic practices as well as sustainably-minded building principals.

The Austin property — decorated in contemporary Western flair — will include horse stables, challenge course, fitness center, yoga studio, infinity-edge pool, and a dining area with outdoor patio and exhibition kitchen. The hotel will also have an on-site spa will have 11 treatment rooms and more than 16,000 square feet of meeting space.

Prices start at $480 a person per night including three chef-prepared meals, snacks, a daily spa service or off-property activity such as golf, and all on-property activities.
