Some anxious moments for five people who had to be rescued after their boat crashes on Sometimes Island in Lake Travis Tuesday night.

The Starflight Helicopter hovered above the waters off of Mansfield Park helping rescuers find five people stranded after a boat crash.

"There was five victims in the boat, five patients in the boat, two complained of injuries, but not life threatening, and all of them refused medical treatment and transport," said Jeremy Petersma with Lake Travis Fire and Rescue.

One of the boat passengers who didn't want to be identified told KVUE she and four other people on the boat were heading back to shore.

The boat driver apparently didn't see Sometimes Island and when he hit it it threw the passengers on the rocks.

"The boat is still on the island right now. We've got crews out there looking at that boat to see what they're going to do with taking care of that boat." said Petersma.

Paramedics and rescuers say there is a lesson in this for all of us. If you're going to be on the water at night, get to know the lake.

Driving a boat on Lake Travis at night is not against the law, however it wasn't clear if anyone on the boat that crashed received a ticket.
