Michael Brewer, a junior at Lake Travis High School and Texas Tech oral commitment for 2011, was in Fort Worth this weekend for the Fort Worth Elite 11 quarterback camp, according to ESPN.

High school quarterbacks from across the region worked out in hopes of earning an invitation to attend the national camp in southern California this summer.

The national Elite 11 camp comprises some of the best high school quarterbacks in the nation entering their senior year of high school, and it seems like Brewer made a good impression at the regional camp.

"What he lacks in height -- standing 6-foot -- he makes up for with footwork and anticipation," wrote ESPN writer Tom Luginbill. "At times he will show a whip-like release, but the ball comes out quick. He will be an ideal fit for the spread offense in Lubbock under new coach Tommy Tuberville.

"He shows zip and the ability to change ball speeds, and he does a nice job of dropping the ball in over the top on the deep ball. He does not possess an elite arm, but it is strong enough and he understands timing and where to go with the ball."

Brewer led the Lake Travis Cavaliers to a 2009 4A title - the school's third consecutive title. He threw for more than 4,400 yards last season for 43 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Brewer succeeds Texas' Garrett Gilbert and Kansas' Todd Reesing as the starting quarterback at Lake Travis.
