UTPD sent out a campus-wide alert to faculty, staff, students to "be alert to their surroundings while on campus and report any suspicious activity to (512) 417-4441."

The building was never on lockdown after the crime scene was determined to be in a hotel room. Police chief Robert Dahlstrom said it was a young female who was found in the hotel room by a cleaning lady. The police have not positively identified the woman as of yet.

Dahlstrom said they called the death suspicious at first because there were "questionable" procedures during the initial investigation. Police thought that some people had been in the hotel, but later determined that those people were not near the crime scene after watching surveillance video.

The AT&T Center, which opened in early 2009, is a building which hosts conferences, events and even has hotel accomodations.
