As students, parents and teachers prepare for another year of learning, the Hill Country Galleria put on a special event to stir the excitement.

During tax free weekend the outdoor mall put on a slew of events, including live music performances, dance shows and a high school fashion show.

"We want to bring the community together. We want to bring all the stores together to work together on one event and just get everyone out here in the Hill Country shopping, dining and enjoying the entertainment out here," event coordinator Melissa Schwartz said.

Community members turned out by the dozens to show their support during the hundred degree temperatures.

"Some of my cheerleaders were asked to come in and show off some of the designs that are going to be in the stores around here and just show the crowd what back to school is going to look like this year," teacher Stacie Mehaffey said.

The Lake Travis cheerleaders sported fall fashions from eight different stores in the galleria.

Big trends for high schoolers this fall include rock n' roll, military, warm colors and vibrant fabrics.

"Hopefully the people will appreciate the fashion the stores have to offer," Schwartz said.

While fall fashion was on display, the event helped get students and teachers excited about the new school year.

"I'm a teacher so I'm very excited for back to school," Mehaffey said.

The event ran for about five hours and included performances by Alisa's Dance Academy, Blind Tactic and the Troy Werner Band.
