Meteorologists said Tuesday's showers have given Austin its second-wettest September in the city's history.

From Sept. 1 to Sept. 21, Austin had about 12.84 inches, beating out 1874, with 12.78 inches, National Weather Service meteorologist Robert Blaha said.

He said 1921 still holds the record: Austin received more than 20 inches of rain from the remnants of a hurricane that killed more than 200 people.

There's more rain in Austin's forecast over the next few days, though it doesn't look like we will beat the record this year, Blaha said.

"That's not a likely process in the coming patterns unless a disturbance or something stalls," Blaha said. "Reasonably, I don't see us breaking that record because that means us getting another 8 inches of rain."
