Due to the rain received on Saturday, the amount of water being passed through the Highland Lakes dams have increased.

Since the large amount of rainfall, LCRA decided to partially open up one floodgate of the Buchanan and Tom Miller dams on Sunday.

After the floodgate opening at the Tom Miller Dam, Lake Austin waters are expected to stand within its normal range. The water being released from the dam is expected to continue for several days.

Lake Buchanan at Cedar Point has received 2.31 inches in just the last 48 hours but the lake is expected to be elevated over the week. Any water released from the floodgate opening is expected to also continue on into the week.

There have also been multiple one inch totals along the entire lake within the 48 hour period.

The water at Inks Dam has reached a foot above the spillway but is expected to reach another foot sometime before 5 p.m. Sunday. The dam has no floodgates however, it is made to allow any over flow of water to stream over the spillway.

Floodgate operations for Mansfield, Starcke and Wirtz dams are not being anticipated at this time.
