Lake Travis may have to go through a few local teams in order to to win another state championship.

The Cavaliers went 3-0 in pool play at the state passing tournament on Friday and those three wins advanced Lake Travis into Saturday’s Division I championship tournament. Lake Travis won the championship tournament in 2010.

Lake Travis will play Belton in the first round of the tournament and a win could send either the Cavaliers or Tigers into a second round match-up with a Westwood team that went 3-0 on Friday and will play John Tyler in the opening round. Vista Ridge, the Central Texas area’s other entrant, will play DeSoto in the first round but two wins on Saturday would set the Rangers up with a third round showdown against Lake Travis, Belton, Westwood or John Tyler.

Five wins are needed to win the 32-team tournament. The championship game will be held at Kyle Field at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Bowie, Hays and McNeil will also be in College Station on Saturday for the Division I consolation tournament.
