Central Texas will see another hot day in the 90s, with a shot at rain as Hurricane Karl pushes a wave of gulf moisture into the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Hurricane Karl, a Category 3 hurricane, is projected to hit the southern portion of Mexico later today, and will trigger additional moisture and humidity for Central Texas, the service said. But we shouldn’t expect heavy rains like those that hit the region last week, although we do have a 20 to 30 percent chance for rain in our region, said Chris Morris, a meteorologist for the service.

“We should feel a little bit of the impacts” today, Morris said. “Austin shouldn’t feel too much of the impact after today. It will feel more humid today, and with that we will see showers.”

The majority of the rain from Hurricane Karl extending into the Lone Star state will be seen in counties south of Interstate 10, Morris said. Otherwise, we’ll see a 10 percent chance of rain throughout the rest of the weekend, Morris said.

Today, we would see a high of 92 that could feel more like 96, and a low of 71 tonight, the service said.

Tomorrow and Sunday we should see more of the same, with highs in the mid-90s that will feel slightly higher and lows in the low 70s, the service said.
