The Westlake High School boys won the Region II championship last week in Waco to land a berth in the state championships, scheduled for May 9 through May 13 at Clay-Kizer. Led by Matthew Perrine (70-73) and Eli Juren (73-73), the Chaps beat McKinney Boyd by 21 strokes.

Westlake, the two-time defending state champion of Class 5A, will play May 12 and 13 on Jimmy Clay.

The Westlake girls also won the region — for the fourth consecutive year. Their one-shot victory over The Woodlands allows them to defend their state championship at Clay.

The Lake Travis High School boys and girls also advanced to state in Class 4A. They’ll play May 9 and 10 on Clay.
