Water and fire and goldbrickers

Since it's only April and already brush fires are burning out of control all over the state, with no rain in sight, it looks like another dry, dusty summer in Austin at a time when our population is increasing, putting more demand on our rapidly depleting water source, Lake Travis.


Isn't it time to ask the City of Austin and the Lower Colorado River Authority whether they are sufficiently educating the public to conserve water and implementing policies that discourage wasting water?


And, hey all you entrepreneurs out there, if there ever were an issue that is ripe for building a better mousetrap and trapping the resultant profits, water and its use, transport and consumption will be the most important issue facing this area and the rest of the state going forward. Let's find someone who will do for water what T. Boone Pickens is trying to do for wind power.
