Lake Travis Passes Another Drought Milestone

The drought is pounding the area’s water supply, and Lake Travis continues to dry up.

“The level of Lake Travis is now below the lowest level it was two years ago,” said Clara Tuma, spokeswoman for the Lower Colorado River Authority.

That 2009 level was the third-lowest ever recorded for Lake Travis, Tuma said.

Forecasters at the LCRA expect the lake to continue shrinking well into the winter but don’t think it will fall as low as the “drought of record” in the 1950s.

The news comes about two days before an economic impact report on Lake Travis is scheduled to be released.
