A new splash pad and decking is being built at Steiner Ranch’s oldest community swimming pool.

Renovations are almost finished at the John Simpson Park pool.

“We renovated the kiddie pool and converted it into splash pad area,” said Tim McIntyre, sales manager with T. F. Harper & Associates LP. T.F. Harper is a general contractor specializing in park and recreation equipment.

Six splash pad features were installed that spray water and appeal to younger kids.

The $88,000 project is expected to be completely finished sometime in the next week.

Archadeck of Austin replaced the old plastic decking boards with a newer composite decking product made by Timbertech. That part of the project cost approximately $70,000.

“Most of the old decking and some of the reusable framing was donated for future use to Austin’s Habitat for Humanity,” said Mark Mommsen, sales and design at Archadeck of Austin.

Composite decking is a combination of plastic and wood fiber and is considered a very durable, low-maintenance, long-lasting product.

“It should prove an excellent choice for decking around the pool for many, many years,” Mommsen said.

Archadeck also replaced the old rotten wooden railing posts with new metal posts to match the existing railing. The existing covered cabana and pergola where inspected and reinforced.

Archadeck is a 14-year-old residential and commercial outdoor building company focusing on decks, patios, outdoor kitchens and fireplaces.
