The Cavaliers finished second this weekend at a seven-on-seven qualifying tournament that was hosted by Westwood High. The silver medal showing advances Lake Travis to this summer’s state passing tournament in College Station.

Lake Travis won last summer’s state tournament.

At the Westwood tournament, Lake Travis beat Georgetown, Pflugerville and McNeil in pool play before knocking off Abilene Cooper in the semifinals. In the championship match, Westwood upended Lake Travis 32-31 although the Cavaliers led at halftime and had a shot to win on the game’s final play.

Westwood, which also qualified for the state tournament, beat Marble Falls, Cedar Park and Vista Ridge in pool play. Before beating Lake Travis in the championship match, the Warriors beat Belton in the tournament semifinals.
