Rain in Austin’s weekend forecast, but there’s warmth at end of tunnel

Ausitn’s normal high temperature is about 60 degrees this time of year, but we’ve been stuck in the 40s for so long that cold is starting to feel, well, normal. That’s about to change, but first Austin should see a pretty wet weekend.

There’s a 40 percent chance of rain tonight, a 70 percent chance Saturday and a 60 percent chance on Sunday. The National Weather Service says the rain should stop around noon on Sunday. The cold weather will eventually give way to warmer conditions, with the highs reaching 50 on Saturday and 61 on Sunday.

MLK Day looks like the best day we’ve seen in a while, with a high around 70 and a mostly sunny sky.

The weather service says next week looks like a more typical Austin January week, with highs around 60 and mostly sunny skies.
