Shameka McGriff (Black & Missing Foundation)
Shameka McGriff, whose body was found floating in Lake Travis, died of a gunshot wound to the head, Travis County sheriff's officers said Friday.

Investigators said a fisherman found the body near Mansfield Dam Park. The call came in around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

McGriff, 27, was reported missing from her home in North Travis County on April 10 by her boyfriend, Kenneth Clark Jr.

According to the sheriff's office, detectives had been following leads in the case that led them to believe McGriff was not alive, and had been placed in Lake Travis. Divers from an underwater recovery team had been searching the lake for several days.

Travis County detectives had interviewed Clark, but before they could investigate further, Clark committed suicide.

According to the sheriff's office, in his final writings, Clark said he placed McGriff's body in the water.
