The ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico may actually be helping tourism in Austin, Texas.

There are reports that area hotel room sales are up eight-percent from last year.  Texas tourism officials report record business around the state's coastal areas and lakes.  Vacationers are apparently choosing places like Lake Travis near Austin, rather than risking Gulf state beaches impacted by the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.
