Overnight lows puts Austin in a freeze

A cold front that has gripped the middle of the U.S. brought overnight lows in the upper 30s to South Texas, but dropped Austin below 32 degrees Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued freeze warning until 8 a.m. Wednesday. The lowest temperatures at 5 a.m. was 30 in Austin. 

The National Weather Service expects a cloudy day with a high temperature of 41 on Wednesday in Austin. Overnight lows will dip down into the 30s again Thursday morning, and the temperature is expected to top out in the lower  40s during the day.

The chance of rain will increase after midnight Thursday and will make for a cloudy Friday with drizzle and a high temperature in the mid 50s. The chance of rain jumps to 40 percent on Saturday.
