Dan Kleiner has joined The Madisonville Meteor as publisher. Kleiner most recently served as publisher of The Karnes Countywide newspaper in Karnes City, Texas, and has also worked at the Wimberley View and Lake Travis View newspapers.

His main responsibilities will be managing the day-to-day operations of the newspaper, building the newspaper’s role in the community, and helping the newspaper serve the residents and businesses of Madison County.

“I’m incredibly excited to become part of such a great community,” Kleiner said. “Madison County is rich in history and has a very bright future ahead of it, which is made most apparent by its exceptional schools, many churches and active civic organizations.

“A newspaper must continue to find ways to improve every issue, and we will work hard to make sure we are never simply satisfied with our efforts. Our staff here is talented and dedicated, and we are looking forward to continuing to work hand-in-hand with the community to deliver the best newspaper possible to Madison County.”

Kleiner was raised in Houston and graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors’ degree in journalism. He began his career as a high school sports and education reporter, and continued on to serve in assistant editor, editor and publisher roles.

During his free time, Kleiner enjoys playing bluegrass guitar, studying Texas history, particularly through the works of J. Frank Dobie, participating in all sports and civic activities, and watching baseball.

He will be relocating to Madison County in April.
