Lake Travis Area Girl Scouts' efforts earn them Gold Awards

The following students have received the Gold Award, the highest level of recognition in Girl Scouts:

Natasha Ballard,16, daughter of Cherie Ballard of Austin, made an electronic press kit for the Kent Cummins Magic Camp. The kit, a promotional DVD, will help spread the word about the camp and give people an insider's look.

Natasha is a sophomore at Lake Travis High School and a member of Troop 1569.

Emily Playfair,16, daughter of Cyndy and Paul Playfair of Austin, redecorated a bedroom and bathroom at the Texas Baptist Children's Home. She also built a garden and swing where families could spend quality time together.

Emily is a junior at Westlake High School and a member of Troop 678.

Madison Scott,16, daughter of Lori and Paul Scott of Austin, renovated the fenced play area at the Texas Baptist Children's Home. She purchased new equipment, landscaped and provided a shady area for the children to play in. The goal of the project was to provide a safe, comfortable environment for both children and their parents.

Madison is a sophomore at Westlake High School. She is a member of Troop 678.
