Snow and ice may hit the Hill Country this week, meteorologists warned residents Monday.

Meanwhile, while it rained Sunday night into Monday morning, little precipitation fell. According to the LCRA, Marble Falls recorded .07 inches; Horseshoe Bay, .30; Kingsland, .26; Burnet, .20; and Spicewood, .16.

Nighttime temperatures will hover around 32 degrees throughout the week with a Wednesday night low about 30, creating “the highest likelihood of…snow, ice, or sleet,” according to Paul Yura of the National Weather Service. Highs should be in the mid-40s.

Bob Rose, chief meteorologist with the Lower Colorado River Authority, advised residents to take “freeze precautions” as the Hill Country could “definitely see some flurries” Wednesday into Thursday.

Both meteorologists said the snow and ice will likely only affect bridges and overpasses, however.

Also Monday, the LCRA said Lake Travis exceeded its historic monthly average for the first time since June 2008.

The level at Lake Travis Monday was 671 ft msl, or .33 feet above its February average of 670.67 ft msl. The water level at Lake Buchanan was 1,003.53 feet above mean sea level (ft msl), or 8.59 feet below its February average of 1,012.12 ft msl.

Water storage in the Highland Lakes’ two water reservoirs, lakes Buchanan and Travis, rose to 1,495,000 acre-feet, or 74 percent capacity, according to the LCRA.
