A 15-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was rescued from Lake Travis about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officials said the girl was flown to University Medical Center Brackenridge and that her 8-year-old sister was taken to Dell Children’s Medical Center.

The 8-year-old told officials they were out by a private boat dock when they experienced what felt like an electric shock. She was found in distress by the dock, near the 14000 block of Arrowhead Trail, and the 15-year-old girl was found unresponsive in the water and went into cardiac arrest while rescuers were performing CPR on her, officials said.

Warren Hassinger, a spokesman for Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, said officials are investigating what could have caused an electrical shock.
