Lake Travis wins 47th straight match

Lake Travis won its 47th consecutive match this season without dropping a set, sweeping Corpus Christi Calallen 25-10, 25-15, 25-12 in a Class 4A regional semifinal in San Antonio.

The Cavaliers, who are the defending Class 4A state champions, will face Cedar Park in a regional final at noon today. The match will be played at Paul Taylor Field House in San Antonio.

Cedar Park def. Victoria West, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22: Cedar Park defeated Victoria West to earn a berth in the Class 4A, Region IV final, where the Timberwolves will face a familiar foe.

The Timberwolves (35-16) will play District 25-4A rival Lake Travis today in the regional final. It will be the fourth match between the teams this season. Lake Travis defeated Cedar Park in August at an early season tournament, and the Cavaliers also swept two district matches against the Timberwolves.

The teams last played on Oct. 12, when Lake Travis won 25-15, 25-8, 15-15.

Victoria West finished its season with a 32-8 record.

Westlake def. Richardson Lake Highlands 25-16, 25-19, 25-14: Westlake swept aside Lake Highlands in a Class 5A regional semifinal in Huntsville, moving the Chaparrals (43-5) to the brink of the Class 5A state tournament.

Today at Sam Houston State, Westlake will face McKinney Boyd in the 5A, Region II final.

After winning the first two sets against Lake Highlands, Westlake raced to a 10-0 lead in the final set and then turned back a rally to advance to the regional final.

McKinney Boyd def. Georgetown, 24-26, 25-16, 25-22, 25-18: Georgetown's run through the Class 5A playoffs ended with a regional semifinal loss in Huntsville.

The Eagles (36-11) defeated The Woodlands College Park, the top-ranked team in Class 5A on Tuesday, but they dropped three straight sets to Boyd (33-2) after winning the opening one.
