After a low-pressure system moved into Central Texas from Mexico late last night, Austin received about an inch-and-a-half of “badly needed rain” between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. today, said National Weather Service forecaster Pat McDonald.

We didn’t get as much rain as some areas, however - McDonald said Waco received about six or seven inches of rain.

The Austin area will see a little sun this afternoon with highs in the upper 40s, and tonight will be cloudy with lows in the mid-30s.

However, get ready for some truly cold weather in two days. On Monday the high will be around 55, McDonald said, but an arctic cold front will blow in around midnight dropping Tuesday’s high temperature to around 40. The low temperatures will be in the 20s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
