It has been slow-moving, but a cold front has arrived in Central Texas, with northerly winds and temperatures as much as 25 degrees cooler than Wednesday afternoon.

Mid-afternoon temperatures fell into the 50s in the western and northern Hill Country, 60s from Llano through Williamson County, and low 70s from Austin to Bastrop.

Clouds will continue to thicken across the area through the evening, with a slight chance for some patchy light rain.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the 40s early Friday morning, then remain in the 60s during the afternoon. A colder night is expected Friday night, with lows falling into the 30s in the Hill Country early Saturday morning.

Afternoons will be very pleasant this weekend, with highs in the 70s.
