Texas Capital boasts of yummy tex-mex eats, live music and Avocado margaritas

Avocado margaritas. A Curra's Grill bartender said you can't get them anywhere else, just like these.

With the consistency of a milk shake, the green drink is infused with tequila and packs a kick. But be careful — it can double as a meal. You'll want to allow room for all the tasty tex-mex eats.

And so went my whirl-wind weekend to Austin, Texas, the state capital with a unique flavor embodied in that margarita — a little weird, colorful and full of flavor.

We ate, we drank, we listened to fiddlers playing expertly on the street for change. We hiked, we relaxed, we shopped for skeleton trinkets, and man, did I mention we ate?

If You Go... Here are a few notable locations not to be missed by visitors to Austin.

Austin is affordable, fun, pretty wild if you visit the music capital's main drag (6th Street) and probably the only liberal city in Texas. But, watch out for its crazy drivers. They generally don't stop for pedestrians, ever.
