Heath's Brady Bohrnstedt captured the silver medal in boys singles at the 2010 UIL State Tennis Tournament at Lakeway World of Tennis on Lake Travis outside Austin last weekend.

The RHHS standout was making his second trip to state in the last three years. He advanced to the semifinals in 2008 before taking a year off from high school tennis to play USTA events.

He returned this season to win the District 10-4A singles title, then defeated defending state champion Grant Adams of Texarkana Texas High for the Region II singles championship and went undefeated to the final at state before losing in three hard-fought sets to Montgomery's Daniel Brown 6-0, 3-6, 6-3.

Bohrnstedt won his quarterfinal match 6-2, 7-5 against Kevin Rodriguez of Magnolia West and bested Austin Mayo of Austin Lake Travis 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals.

District 10-4A girls doubles champions Abby Stainback and Kristin Adams of Highland Park defeated Lizzy Ulam/Taylor Hadash of Montgomery 6-3, 6-4 for the state title. It marked Stainback's fourth straight girls doubles championship.

10-4A mixed doubles champs Jeffrey Stulmaker and Julianne Jackson of Richardson Pearce lost in the final 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (0) to Kolby Kilgo/Kenna Kilgo of Waco Midway.

10-4A girls singles champion Melaine Marlin of Highland Park lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Lauren Quisenberry of Gregory Portland 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4).
